14 killed in car accident in South Korea

Five people were killed and nine injured in a car accident in Ansan, South Korea.

The casualty occurred when a bus collided with a van carrying day laborers at an intersection in Ansan, about 30 kilometers south of the capital Seoul, at around 6:30 a.m. local time on Saturday.

The collision caused the van to overturn and hit a passenger car waiting in the opposite lane, Xinhua said.

Five workers in the van were sent to the nearest hospital where they were declared brought dead.

Besides, seven others in the van including the driver and two in the passenger bus were injured. One of the injured is in critical condition.

Police said they suspect the van had violated the traffic signal at the intersection. They are investigating the exact cause of the accident.

Meanwhile, the Chinese embassy in South Korea confirmed that at least three Chinese nationals were among the casualties.
