A 6.1-magnitude earthquake shook Japan

An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 has struck Japan.

The earthquake struck on Tuesday (April 2). However, there were no immediate reports of damage from the earthquake and there was no threat of a tsunami.

The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) reported that the 6.1-magnitude earthquake hit Iwate and Aomori prefectures in northern Japan.

JMA also said the epicenter of the earthquake was in the northern coastal part of Iwate Prefecture.
