Erdogan praises the victory of democracy in local elections

Local elections were held in Turkey on Sunday. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan addressed supporters of his Justice and Development Party (AK Party) outside the AK Party headquarters in the capital Ankara today after the election.
Turkish President Erdogan called this year’s local elections a victory for democracy. He thanked them for their support and the spread of democracy in the country.
Addressing supporters, Erdogan said, ‘The nation has shown its will at the ballot without facing any obstacles. This is a great victory for Turkish democracy. ‘
The President of Turkey also said, ‘We have completed the March 31 elections with maturity suitable for our democracy. There was no untoward incident in the election. ‘
However, he noted that members of a separatist organization were involved in harassing and humiliating citizens living in the east and southeast of Turkey.
Erdogan also said, ‘Thanks to our citizens for their common sense. Turkey’s democracy has once again proved its maturity. Elections are the most important day of democracy and people express their choice through ballots.’
