Leaders of Arab and Muslim countries will meet in Saudi Arabia on Monday in the context of Israel’s ongoing aggression in Gaza and Lebanon.
The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported this in a statement on Sunday.
The SPA statement said that the increasing violence in the Palestinian and Lebanese territories, especially the brutal aggression by Israel, has forced Arab and Islamic leaders to take urgent measures.
The conference is being held as a follow-up to the Arab-Islamic conference held in Riyadh in November last year, which discussed the dangerous and unprecedented situation in the entire Palestinian region, including Gaza.
The SPA said, “Unity among Arab and Islamic countries is needed to deal with this situation.”
The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Palestine will attend the conference on Monday. The secretaries-general of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will also join.
They will take the initiative to work for immediate international action to end the fighting in Gaza and establish a lasting and comprehensive peace.
On Sunday, Saudi state-run news agency Al-Akhbariya broadcast footage of Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati arriving in Riyadh.
