Heavy rains and floods kill 13 in Indonesia

At least 13 people have died in floods caused by heavy rains in Indonesia’s North Maluku region. Besides, two others were injured.
On Sunday (August 25), the country’s disaster management agency BNPB reported that 10 houses were damaged in the city of Ternate due to flooding.
A special team has been deployed to evacuate the victims to a safer place, the agency said.
Search and rescue agency Basarnas said efforts to evacuate victims of landslides and debris were ongoing.
According to the weather forecast, there may be heavy rainfall for the next few days. BNPB asked local residents to be vigilant.

Earlier in May, more than 60 people lost their lives in flash floods and landslides in the country’s West Sumatra region.
