How Saudi Arabia made Hajj environmentally friendly

About two million people perform Hajj in Saudi Arabia every year. The presence of so many people puts pressure on the environment. Saudi authorities have taken several steps for this. As a result, Hajj has become environmentally friendly in the country.
In this case, pilgrims are being encouraged in some cases, while others are asked to be careful in some cases. Basically it is said to reduce overall carbon emissions during Hajj.
Basically, various agencies of the Saudi government are coordinating in the field of waste management and working to increase environmental awareness. In particular, they are keeping an eye on the matter so that these wastes do not have a serious impact on the environment.
The country’s waste management center said in a statement on social media that MWAN inspection teams are looking to ensure safe waste management as part of a concerted effort to protect the environment of the world’s holiest sites.
Its teams visited 49 operational facilities of the waste management sector across Makkah and Madinah in May. Basically they took this step to implement the rules of waste management.
MWAN has announced several initiatives to promote services to pilgrims, proper use of natural resources, public health and environmental sustainability.
The National Center for Environmental Compliance plays an important role in data collection and monitoring of air quality before, during and after the Hajj season.
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has launched 10 projects to improve water infrastructure, with 2,000 workers engaged to serve pilgrims.
Meanwhile, the National Center of Meteorology is monitoring the weather conditions in the event of extreme heat.
Several steps have already been taken to take environmental issues into consideration. These include smart cities, adaptation to alternative energy sources, encouraging recycling and environmentally friendly transport facilities. These include electric trains and buses, new e-scooters and self-driving aerial taxi services.
Hajj pilgrims can contribute to eco-friendly Hajj and reduce pressure on the environment by adapting to these sustainable initiatives.
