India-Nepal Strengthen Ties Through Collaborative Public Sector Audit Initiatives

In a move hailed as deepening the longstanding relationship between India and Nepal, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on public sector audit has been signed between the two nations. This agreement marks yet another milestone in the multifaceted ties between the neighboring countries.
During his visit to Kathmandu, Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) Girish C Murmu engaged in high-level meetings, underscoring the importance of collaboration in the field of public sector audit. His discussions with Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Finance Minister Barshaman Pun, and Auditor General Toyama Raya highlighted the commitment of both nations to enhancing cooperation in this critical area.
The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu lauded the close partnership between the Supreme Audit Institutions of India and Nepal, emphasizing its significance in augmenting the bilateral relationship. CAG Murmu’s interactions during his visit aimed at fostering greater synergy between the auditing bodies, with a focus on capacity-building efforts and methodological improvements in public sector audit practices.
“The MoU signed today will promote capacity-building efforts and focus on improvement in methodologies in the field of Public Sector Audit,” stated the Indian Embassy, reflecting the shared commitment to enhancing auditing standards and practices.
