India has finally withdrawn all troops from Maldives. May 10 was the last day to withdraw troops. Meanwhile, all the troops have been evacuated. The country’s media NDTV reported this information about the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the report, 89 Indian Army personnel deployed in the island nation have returned home. It is to be noted that after winning the elections, the President of Maldives, Mohammad Muijju, announced several times about the removal of the Indian army from the country.
According to Indian media reports, 80 Indian Army personnel were working in Maldives for the past few years. They operated two Indian helicopters and an airplane in the Maldives.
However, President Muijju’s first decision was to withdraw Indian troops from Maldives. After that, an agreement was reached between the two countries on February 2. According to the agreement, 89 Indian soldiers and their associates should be removed from the Maldives by May 10.
