Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal Bin-Farhan commented that Israel cannot exist without a Palestinian state. At the same time, he reiterated the issue of establishing an independent Palestinian state according to the 1967 borders. This information was given after a meeting with Arab and European foreign ministers in Brussels, the capital of Belgium.
Saudi Arabia’s top diplomat told reporters that Israel cannot exist without the existence of a Palestinian state and Israel must fully accept it.
Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal Bin-Farhan also said that Israel will get security only through the establishment of a Palestinian state. We therefore sincerely hope that Israel’s leaders will understand that it is in their best interest to work with the international community. And that is not only to strengthen the Palestinian Authority but to establish a Palestinian state along the 1967 borders.
Earlier in February of this year, Saudi Arabia announced that they will not establish any relations with Israel until they recognize the independent state of Palestine.
Note that Israel occupied the West Bank in the 1967 war. And since the beginning of last year, violence has spread in the West Bank. But it has escalated since the war in Gaza began on October 7 last year.
The Palestinians want the occupied West Bank, along with the Gaza Strip, as the core of their future independent state. In addition, Palestinians see the eastern part of the historic city of Jerusalem as the capital of their future state.
