Occupying Israel has withdrawn its troops from Jenin, a city in the West Bank region of Palestine.

Reuters reported that all Israeli troops had been withdrawn from the city on Friday (September 6).

Israeli forces launched an operation in Jenin on August 28 to eliminate members of the pro-independence group Hamas and its ally, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Most of the buildings and structures of the city were destroyed in this 9-day campaign.

Samaher Abu Nasa, a resident of Jenin city, said, “In addition to weapons and armored vehicles, they also used bulldozers in the raid.” Almost everything we had was destroyed, they left nothing. Thousands of people have been killed and displaced.

Jenin’s electricity and water supply systems have been destroyed by Israeli forces. Most of the houses are without electricity.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned the operation and said that Israel has followed the same strategy in Jenin as the Israeli forces are operating in the Gaza Strip.

Incidentally, the northern West Bank city of Jenin has long been a stronghold of Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. There have been several incidents of attacks on Israeli settlers in Jenin for the past few days. Because of these attacks, the Israeli forces started an operation in the city on August 28.

Fourteen people, including a local Hamas commander, have been killed in Jenin in the past nine days of Israeli military operations. Besides, the army has arrested at least 30 suspects.
