North Korea has tested a new type of hypersonic missile capable of hitting the United States.
According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Wednesday, Kim Jong Un observed the missile launch test from the Sohai Satellite Launching Ground in the northern part of the country on Tuesday.
The report claims that the new missile is capable of hitting areas as far away as Guam in the United States.
Referring to the importance of intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of hitting the US mainland, Kim said the enemy knows better about it. He called the testing of the new weapon an important success.
KCNA did not elaborate on the missiles tested on Tuesday or disclose the technical nature of the test.
Earlier this week, North Korea launched a short-range missile attack on the United States. The attack was carried out from the country’s eastern waters. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is preparing to attend a democracy summit in rival South Korea. This angered North Korea.
The missiles were launched from the capital Pyongyang on Monday.
