Many Rohingyas are waiting to enter Bangladesh at the Maungdu border in Myanmar. The number is expected to be at least 20 thousand. It is said that such a situation has been created due to the terrible drone attack on the Rohingyas last week.
Several bodies have floated across the Naf river to Bangladesh. An NGO worker in Teknaf demanded that several bodies be buried in Bangladesh A Rohingya said nine of his relatives were killed in the Maungdu area in a drone attack. And four injured people have come to Bangladesh and are receiving treatment. Meanwhile, BGB has increased security and patrolling along the Bangladesh-Myanmar border. Additional forces have been deployed.
Last week, a drone attack was carried out in Maungdoo, Myanmar, on Rohingyas fleeing towards Bangladesh. Shots are fired. At least 200 Rohingya have been killed. The attack is believed to have been carried out by the Arakan Army.
The media of Bangladesh has so far reported that half a hundred bodies have floated into Bangladesh. However, Teknaf area NGO worker Mahbub Alam Minar said, under my supervision, we have buried the bodies of 170 Rohingyas here. The largest number of burials took place in the cemetery of the Great Madrasa Mosque on Shahpari Island, where 55 bodies were buried.
He claimed that according to the information I received, there are at least 7 to 10 thousand Rohingya waiting to enter Bangladesh on that side of Teknaf and Ukhia border.
Abdun Noor, a resident of a camp in Teknaf area, said, “I have received news that a total of 9 people I know, including four members of our family, have died in drone attacks and shootings. Four people escaped with injuries. Among them are my sister and her sons and daughters. They are being treated in hospitals in Bangladesh.
He said, according to my knowledge, 20-30 thousand Rohingyas are staying across the border. Their condition is very bad.
And Yunus Arman of Kutupalong camp said that some Rohingyas are coming separately. However, thousands of Rohingyas are waiting to come. They are under fire from both the Myanmar military and the Arakan Army in Maungdoo.
Bangladesh’s former mission chief Major (retd.) Md. Emdadul Islam said some Rohingyas have joined Myanmar forces. As a result, the Rohingyas of Maungdu area have become the target of the Arakan Army. And that is why the Arakan Army is believed to have carried out the drone attack last week. But from the news we are getting, attacks on Rohingyas are happening there every day. And they are gathering at the border. They cannot enter Bangladesh as the border is sealed.
According to him, now Bangladesh government needs to establish communication with China. Because China has relations with both Myanmar’s military junta and Arakan Army. So it is easy to solve it through China, if they can be persuaded. And it is necessary to communicate differently with Myanmar government and Arakan army separately.
Major (Retd.) Md. Emdadul Islam also said that if what is happening in Mangdu does not decrease, then the pressure on the Bangladesh border will continue to increase. Then the situation can be more complicated.
Teknaf-2 BGB captain Lt. Colonel Md. Mohiuddin Ahmed said that the security and patrolling of Bangladesh-Myanmar border has been strengthened. Force has also been increased. So far no new Rohingya have entered Bangladesh.
