Russia’s largest naval exercise begins, China also participates

Russia has launched its largest naval exercise in modern history. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of this exercise on Tuesday.
The exercise named ‘Ocean-2024’ will be conducted simultaneously in the Pacific and Arctic oceans as well as in the Mediterranean, Caspian and Baltic seas and some Chinese warships are expected to participate in it.
Putin attended the opening of the exercise through a video link and said that the purpose of this exercise is to evaluate the combat readiness of the country’s naval and air forces. As well as checking their interoperability.
The exercise involves more than 400 Russian warships and submarines, as well as support vessels, about 120 aircraft and more than 90,000 personnel.
Defense Minister Andrey Belosov was present at the opening ceremony of the exercise. Putin said of the drills that high-precision weapons would be used.
The exercises will draw on the experience Russian troops have gained in the ongoing conflict between Moscow and Kiev.
Meanwhile, the armed forces of China and Russia are starting this joint exercise on skill-building training in the field of national defense to increase their ability to deal with external threats, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said.
He said, ‘China and Russia have organized this joint exercise to deepen their strategic coordination and jointly strengthen their ability to counter security threats.
And this is how Beijing and Moscow are strengthening inter-army strategic cooperation, the Chinese spokesperson also mentioned.
