WhatsApp’s lawyer told the court that ordinary people use WhatsApp for privacy. All their messages are end-to-end encrypted.
India’s Information Technology Act 2021 has been challenged by WhatsApp. It is said in that law, who is giving what information should be identified. The date of hearing in this regard is fixed on August 14. Earlier, WhatsApp informed the Delhi High Court about their position.
The Modi government released the guidelines for the Information Technology Act 2021 on February 25, 2021. There, major social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp are said to follow the rules.
According to India’s Ministry of Information Technology, WhatsApp has violated the fundamental rights of users in India.
The ministry claims that if the Information Technology Act 2021 is not implemented, it will become difficult for law enforcement agencies to find the source of fake information. This will disturb the peace and harmony in the society. Which will lead to chaos in the society.
Later, the bench of Acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court asked if this matter exists in any other country. At that time, the lawyer present on behalf of WhatsApp said that there is no such rule in any country in the world.
