Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Law and International Affairs Kazem Garibabadi has said that it is time to expel Israel from the UN.

He made the remarks at a joint meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Arab League foreign ministers held in Tehran on Sunday.

Thanking Saudi Arabia for hosting the meeting, Garibabadi said that the current situation in Gaza and Lebanon has become a matter of shame for humanity.

He noted that the Palestinian people have been deprived of their basic rights for more than seven decades of injustice and aggression.

Garibabadi also said that Israel’s hostile actions are against the principles and legitimacy of the United Nations. The UN Charter, especially Article 2, has been violated due to actions such as tearing up the UN Charter, declaring the Secretary-General as undesirable, killing UN staff and ignoring the rulings of the International Court of Justice. Therefore, it is time to expel Israel from the UN.

The Iranian official also said that a complete arms, economic and trade embargo should be imposed on Israel and sanctions should be imposed on all institutions that support the occupation in Palestine.
