US containment policy against Russia and China ineffective: Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the United States is pursuing a policy of dual containment against Russia and China. However, such a method is now ineffective.

He made this statement at the plenary session of the Valdai Discussion Club in Sochi on Thursday.

The Russian president said that, unfortunately, the United States is pursuing a policy of dual containment. In other words, they are trying to contain China and Russia together.

According to Putin, Washington sees China’s economic growth as a threat to its global dominance.

“But in my opinion, this is not an effective method for them. One’s advantages should be proven in honest and open competition. This method could revive the United States’ own, inherent development resources.”

Putin complained at the time that the United States was “imposing one ban after another.” However, it was actually harming their own development.

He asked what the effect of bans on Chinese products or technologies on the US market would be? Nothing but inflation and high production costs.

The Russian president also said, “I believe that if the United States changed its ‘dual containment’ policy and adopted a ‘quarterly cooperation’ policy with Russia and China, everyone would benefit. It would create a win-win situation for everyone.”
