Israel has killed the head of the political bureau of the Palestinian independence organization Hamas, Yahya Sinwar. First Ismail Haniya, then Sinwar – Israel killed two top leaders in succession.
After that, there is speculation about who will be the new leader of Hamas. A report by CNN on Saturday highlighted the names of some powerful leaders.
According to the report, analysts said that Yahya Sinwar’s brother Mohammad Sinwar may get the key responsibility to lead the war against Israel in Gaza.
Meanwhile, Sinwar’s deputy Khalil al-Hayya is also being considered as a possible successor. On Friday, he said, the war will not end until the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza and the return of hostages.
One of the most influential leaders of Hamas is Khaled Meshaal. He is the former head of the organization’s political wing. After the assassination of Sinwar, he can also catch the fate of Hamas.
Earlier in July, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed in Iran. After Haniya’s death, Sinwar was given the reins. He was serving as a military and political leader.
Not only Ismail Haniya or Yahya Sinwar, but Israel has killed several Hamas leaders before. Among them, Sheikh Ahmed Yasin, the founder of the organization, was killed in 2004. His successor Abdel Aziz Rantiji was killed a few weeks after this murder.
After its establishment, Hamas has thus lost some top leaders but has been able to turn around again and again. But at the moment, it is difficult to say how they will be organized again. Because it is not clear how much the organizational structure of Hamas has changed under the leadership of Sinwar.
Yahya Sinwar consolidated his power in the organization after two top Hamas leaders were killed. He emerged as Hamas’ sole decision-maker in Gaza.
Meanwhile, Iran has said that the killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar will strengthen the spirit of resistance forces. Lebanon’s armed group Hezbollah said the ongoing war against Israel will be taken to a new and dynamic stage.
