Erdogan supports Guterres in reforming the UN Security Council

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has again called for reform of the UN Security Council. Erdoğan had previously mentioned this reform to ensure world peace and security. This time he supported the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on the question of reform.

Daily Sabah reported that in a statement Ergogan praised Guterres’ comments on reforming the United Nations Security Council. The UN Secretary-General said the African continent and African people must be given the opportunity to contribute to a just global system.

In a message on social media X on Monday, Guterres said that the victory of the United Nations in World War II is confined to a few countries. There is no country on the African continent on the Security Council.

Guterres said the world has changed but the composition of the Security Council has not been as dynamic as it used to be. It is unacceptable that Africa – home to more than a billion people. But they do not have permanent members of the Security Council. African voices, insights and participation must be carried into the deliberations and actions of the Council.

Backing Guterres, Erdogan said earlier reform of the UN Security Council around the African region was essential.

Erdogan said Turkey will continue to promote the idea that the world is bigger than five countries and that a beautiful world is possible.

Erdogan also said, as Turks, we will stand by all our friends. who are earnestly striving for the formation of the United Nations Security Council; Which is in line with a fair international system and current conditions.
