China seized the Taiwanese boat

China seized a Taiwanese boat with five sailors.

China said they were arrested last Tuesday on charges of illegal fishing in its territorial waters.

Meanwhile, Taiwanese authorities have called on China to release the five sailors. They said two of the sailors were from Taiwan and three from Indonesia. Their boat was stationed near the Chinese coast.

Taiwan said it learned from the boat’s captain last Tuesday that its fishing boat had been seized by Chinese coast guard officials. China considers the autonomous island of Taiwan as part of its territory.

Earlier, on June 9, Taiwan arrested a former Chinese Navy officer for illegal entry.
