Separatist terrorists are finding themselves in a corner in Syria after the fall of President Bashar al-Assad on December 8. In this situation, they are looking for new sponsors. However, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the separatists now have two alternative paths open to them.

The Turkish leader said at a meeting of his party Justice and Development Party in the western province of Aydin on Friday, “With the release of the Syrian opposition in Damascus, the separatist terrorists are increasingly in a corner. They are now looking for new sponsors. They are trying to appeal to those who do not want stability in our region. They are looking to the imperialist powers that have turned into blood and tears. But no matter what they do, it is futile and meaningless.”

Erdogan emphasized today, “The more they want to be separatist ambitious, the more they will be driven towards a cruel end. Unless they face the new reality, their time will be reduced further.’

Erdogan also warned the Syrian separatists that leaning towards foreign powers will not yield any results and that Turkey will never allow it.

Erdogan said that the separatists now have only two options open to them. He said that the terrorists have only two options – to abandon terrorism and lay down their arms, or to face inevitable elimination.

Erdogan then said, ‘Our hope is that we will be able to free our region from the clutches of terrorism without bloodshed or destruction. We sincerely hope that we will leave our children a more peaceful, safe country and region. Where brotherhood will reign supreme.’

It is worth noting that after ruling Syria for almost 25 years, opposition groups in Damascus forced Assad to flee to Russia on December 8. After that, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham fighters tried to take control of important cities there for two weeks. Currently, a new administration led by Ahmed al-Shara (Julani) has taken control of the country.
