India’s 18th Lok Sabha elections are underway. The 7th and final phase of polling is taking place on Saturday. And the results of the vote will be announced on June 4. However, just 4 days before the results were announced, Open AI, the maker of artificial intelligence ‘Chat GPT’, made an explosive allegation.
According to the organization, an Israeli organization was trying to influence the Lok Sabha elections in India by using artificial intelligence. But that attempt has been stopped by Open AI. This information was reported in the Hindustan Times report.
It is said that the Israeli organization STOIC tried to interfere in Indian elections by campaigning in the name of Zero Zeno. It tries to publicize all the comments coming in opposing the BJP and supporting the Congress.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said the campaign leveraged OpenAI’s powerful language models to create social media profiles, articles and comments. It has criticized the ruling BJP and praised the Congress.
Open AI says it blocked the Israeli agency’s campaign. Open AI noticed when the organization started working on this activity in May. Those concerned say that this covert campaign is carried out to influence public opinion in order to influence political results.
India’s Union Electronics and Technology Minister and BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar said it is very clear that the BJP is being targeted through misinformation and foreign interference by some Indian political parties or on their behalf. Which is very dangerous for the country’s democracy.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar also said that such agenda is being run for selfish interests outside India and the country. This needs to be investigated thoroughly. My view at the moment is that social platforms could have revealed this earlier, not so late when the election is over.
