Citing the police, the BBC reported in a report that on Tuesday (July 17), a high school student in Tokyo, the capital of Japan, took away potato chips bought from a store. Later, the student shared chips with 30 of his classmates.
Immediately after eating the chips, the students began to feel discomfort due to severe burns. At this time, some students felt nauseous. A few students reported pain around their mouths. The police and fire service were called on an emergency basis.
At this time, 14 students who fell ill were taken to a local hospital. Among them 13 girls and 1 boy.
In Japan, a company called Isoyama Corporation makes such soldered chips. However, the company recently apologized for this ‘inconvenience’ to consumers. The institution has wished the sick students a speedy recovery.
However, Isoyama Corporation has issued a warning to consumers on its website about these highly scalded chips. It says that anyone under the age of 18 is discouraged from eating these chips.
The company also said that there is a risk of high blood pressure and upset stomach by eating these chips. So for those who already have such a tendency, eating these chips is completely prohibited. Even when opening a packet of chips, caution is advised.
