The bodies of six people have been recovered from a luxury hotel room in the capital of Thailand, Bangkok. A Thai government spokesman said all those killed were citizens of Vietnam and the United States.

The country’s local media first reported that the shooting occurred at the five-star Grand Hyatt Erawan hotel. But the police dismissed this information. They said there were no signs of gunfire.

Now the media said that these six people have died due to poisoning. However, this information has not been officially confirmed yet.

Thai Prime Minister Sretha Thavisin has ordered an investigation into the incident. He said he did not want it to affect Thailand’s image and tourism sector.

The Prime Minister said that the police believe that the dead bodies have been lying there for 24 hours. The bodies will be autopsied and tested to see if they ate anything.

According to the BBC, the police believe that the seventh is also a Vietnamese. But he is still not found. Earlier, the Thai Public Broadcasting Service quoted the police as saying that three women and three men had died.

Major General of Police Thiradek Thamsuthi said, in the preliminary investigation, it is believed that they have been poisoned.

The Public Broadcasting Service reported, “There were no signs of a scuffle in their room.” Instead, tea and coffee drinking cups were found.

Police were called to the hotel around noon local time after receiving a phone call from hotel staff.
