Japan is getting a new prime minister

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is no longer the leader of the ruling party. He will not participate in party elections in September. His three-year tenure as Prime Minister will end. As a result, Japan is going to get a new prime minister very soon. News Reuters
According to Japanese media reports on Wednesday, Kishida will not stand for election as the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party. Support for him has declined drastically for various reasons.
Then the one who takes the responsibility will have to face various challenges. These include the rising cost of living, geopolitical tensions and the possible ascension of Donald Trump to the US presidency. There is concern within the LDP about the upcoming lower house elections.
Kishida assumed office as Prime Minister in October 2021. He would go on to become one of Japan’s eight longest serving post-war prime ministers.
