Donald Trump, the candidate of the Republican Party in the upcoming US elections, discussed the cease-fire in Gaza and the release of hostages with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
They discussed this in a phone call on Wednesday local time. Axios reported this information in a report citing two American sources.
A source told Axios that Trump called Netanyahu to persuade him to agree to a cease-fire deal. However, he does not know the details of what was discussed between them.
In addition, Trump’s campaign camp was contacted for comment, but they did not comment.
Last month, Netanyahu visited the United States and met with President Joe Biden, Vice President and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, and Republican candidate Trump.
Meanwhile, Egypt, Qatar and the United States are scheduled to hold talks on a ceasefire in Gaza on Thursday. However, the Palestinian independence movement Hamas said it will not take part in new talks on a cease-fire in Gaza tomorrow in Qatar.
The Israeli government, on the other hand, said it would send a delegation to Thursday’s talks.
In addition, three senior Iranian officials said that only a cease-fire agreement in Gaza can prevent Iran from retaliating against Israel for the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.
