Israeli forces have ordered the evacuation of Palestinians from the center of the Gaza Strip. Due to their order, the United Nations has been forced to temporarily suspend relief operations in the Gaza Strip. A senior UN official said this on Monday.

He said, in the situation we are in, we are not able to provide food today. As of this morning we are not operating in Gaza.

He also said that the evacuation of the city of Deir al-Balah, including parts of Israel’s declared humanitarian zone, has been ordered. The main UN relief aid operations center in the area. But the workers had to be evacuated immediately after the Israeli directive. Even various tools had to be left there.

However, UN officials say UN agencies will not leave Gaza. They are now looking for new places to work safely.

UN staff and Palestinian civilians are being squeezed into very small areas of Gaza, warned Sam Rose, senior deputy field director of UNRWA, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees.

He told journalists in New York through a video link that the humanitarian zone declared by Israel has shrunk. It is now only 11 percent of the entire Gaza Strip. But this 11 percent land is not habitable. These are sand dunes, densely populated areas. People are gasping for living there.
