Israel has killed Yahya Sinwar, the main leader of the Iran-backed Palestinian independence organization Hamas. Israel sees it as one of their biggest successes. They believe that after the death of Sinwar, Hamas will not be able to establish a foothold in the region. However, Hamas is not a vessel to suffocate. The organization vowed to avenge Sinwar’s death. Hezbollah, another Lebanese organization, has declared solidarity with them.
In response to Sinwar’s death, Iran-backed Hamas and the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah vowed to go to war against Israel on Friday. Meanwhile, Iran has also spoken of going to war against Israel. According to them, Sinwar’s death will only fuel the ‘spirit of resistance’.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday called Sinwar’s killing a milestone, saying, “My dear friends, the war is not over yet.” The fight will continue until the hostages held by Hamas are released.
“We have a great opportunity to stop the evil axis,” he added, referring to Iran and its militant allies in Syria, Iraq and Yemen.
In response, Hamas says, “The hostages will be released only if the attack on Gaza stops, and only if the Israeli army withdraws, only their prisoners will be released.” And the martyrdom of our brother, leader Yahya Sinwar … will only increase Hamas’ strength, resolve and our resistance.’
On the other hand, Hezbollah, another organization fighting for the independence of Palestine, said, “A new phase is beginning in the war against Israel.” From now on, precision-guided missiles will be used to target Israeli soldiers. A new and escalating phase of the war with the Israeli enemy is being announced. Precision guided missiles are being used for the first time.’
Meanwhile, a senior diplomat working in Lebanon told Reuters it was wrong to expect Sinwar’s death to end the war. We hoped that getting rid of Sinwar would be the turning point. Which will bring the war to an end… They will be ready to lay down their weapons. But now it seems we made a mistake again.
Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdellatty is saying the same thing. “Unfortunately, we are on the brink of a massive regional war,” he said.
