A 6.2-magnitude earthquake hit Indonesia in Southeast Asia. No casualties or damages were reported in the earthquake. After the earthquake struck, people came out of their homes in panic.
Anadolu news agency reported this information in a post on Monday (May 6) around 1:00 p.m., citing the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The epicenter was 153 km (95 mi) southwest of the Fakfak area in West Papua, at a depth of 12.1 km below the surface.
Due to the geological conditions, events like earthquakes and eruptions occur occasionally in Asia’s largest island nation. At the end of last month, Indonesia was also shaken by a 6.5-magnitude earthquake.
