Tel Aviv has published a map of ‘Greater Israel’ that includes the territories of four Arab countries in the Middle East. The new map claims that the territories of Palestine, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon are part of Greater Israel. The incident has sparked a storm of protests in Middle Eastern countries.
The map spread on social media this week. It includes vast territories of Palestine, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon in the so-called ‘Greater Israel’.
The map has been condemned immediately after its publication. Nabil Abu-Rudein, a spokesman for the Palestinian Authority in the occupied West Bank, called the map a clear violation of all international laws and resolutions.
He said that the international community should take urgent action to stop Israel’s occupation policy, illegal settler attacks and the incessant desecration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Jordanian Foreign Ministry has described the map published by Israel as “provocative and baseless.” They say that Israeli actions based on racism cannot undermine Jordan’s sovereignty, nor can they violate the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
The Jordanian Foreign Ministry has also called on the Israeli government to immediately stop such provocative actions and reckless statements, warning that otherwise these actions will only increase instability in the Middle East region.
Saudi Arabia has also condemned and rejected the Israeli map. Riyadh said that such extremist claims reveal Israel’s intentions, which seek to consolidate its occupation, continue its open attacks on the sovereignty of states, and violate international law and norms.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry reiterated its call on the international community to play its role in stopping Israel’s violations of the laws and regulations against the region and its people.
Saudi Arabia also stressed the need to respect the sovereignty of other countries and their borders.
However, there has been no response from Syria and Lebanon on this issue.
