China’s newest and most modern warship ‘The Fujian’ has gone to sea for the first time. The warship began a test mission on Wednesday (May 1) from Shanghai to the East China Sea.

Chinese state media Xinhua said on Wednesday that China built this warship as part of military competition with the United States. The reliability and stability of the warship’s propulsion and electrical systems will be tested during the exercise at sea. Although this warship was inaugurated in 2022, Fujian was sent to sea for the first time.

Although Fujian is China’s most modern, it is ahead or behind USS Gerald Ford, the largest and latest warship of the United States, published a report by the American media CNN.

China’s previous two warships, Shandong and Liaoning, had water removal capacities of 66,000 and 60,000 metric tons, respectively. On the contrary, the water removal capacity of the new Fujian is 80 thousand metric tons. Fujian is undoubtedly a new milestone in the capabilities of China’s People’s Liberation Army.

According to CNN, Gerald Ford is far ahead of Fujian in terms of water removal. While Fujian’s capacity is 80 thousand metric tons, Gerald Ford can remove 1 lakh metric tons.

The US warship is also ahead in terms of fighter aircraft capacity. While the Gerald Ford can carry 75 fighter jets, the Fujian’s capacity is limited to 60. The catapults used in Fujian fighter jets are electromagnetic. While the Gerald Ford has this facility, other US warships do not.

US warships are nuclear powered. As a result, it can stay at sea for a long time. On the other hand, traditional fuels are being used in Fujian. As a result, Fujian will have to take the help of a well tanker to stay at sea continuously.
