Erdogan condemns Israeli attack on Lebanon

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has condemned Israel’s recent military offensive in Lebanon.

In a message on social media X on Saturday, he wrote, “Israel’s policy of genocide, occupation and aggression, which has been ongoing since October 7, is now focused on Lebanon and the Lebanese people.”

Expressing deep concern for the loss of life and property of the people of Lebanon, especially children, Erdogan termed these events as “brutal attacks”.

He criticized the international community for supporting Israel’s actions, saying that while Tel Aviv receives “arms and ammunition support from its supporters”, it is “illegal, disregarding humanitarian values and international law” and becoming increasingly unstoppable.

The Turkish president said, “Israel’s shameless politics, which have been seen in Gaza and Ramallah, should not be allowed to spread to Lebanon and other countries in the Middle East.”

He added, “No sane person can accept, condone or justify such a genocide”.

The Turkish president called on international organizations, especially the United Nations Security Council and human rights organizations, to take swift action.

He also called for a “strong stand” against Israeli attacks on the Islamic world.

Erdogan reiterated Turkey’s support for Lebanon, saying his country would “stand by the Lebanese people and government in this difficult time”.

He expressed his condolences to the victims and condemned the ‘inhuman attack’ of Israel and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
