“If I die, even the president will not survive”

Philippine Vice President Sara Duterte has said she has hired an assassin to assassinate President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., his wife and the speaker of parliament, warning that none of them will survive if he is killed.
The sensational information was reported by CNN and CBS on Saturday (November 23).
This is the latest example of the ongoing tension between the Philippines’ two most powerful political families.
President Marcos Jr. is the son of former Philippine dictator Ferdinand Marcos. Ferdinand, who held power for 20 years, was overthrown in a popular coup in 1986. Sara Duterte, meanwhile, is the daughter of former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte.
Rodrigo was the ruler of the country before Marcos Jr. came to power.
Rodrigo is considered the country’s most hardline president in recent times. He is being investigated by the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity.
Ahead of the 2022 elections in the Philippines, Marcos and Duterte formed a coalition called ‘Uniteam’.
When this coalition came to power, Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte took over the positions of president and vice president, respectively. But these two top politicians and their supporters have been embroiled in conflict since day one.
Sara resigned from the cabinet last June, breaking up the ‘Uniteam’ coalition. She has repeatedly called President Marcos Jr. and his cousin, Speaker Martin Romualdez, ‘incompetent’ and ‘corrupt’.
Speaker Romualdez has cut the budget of the vice president’s office by almost two-thirds. Sara’s chief of staff, Zulekha Lopez, was recently arrested. It is believed that Sara made such a harsh statement in response.
In a statement given to a press conference on Saturday, Sara said, “I have a man in mind.” I said, if I die, BBM will kill (Marcos), (First Lady) Lisa Araneta and (Speaker) Martin Romualdez. Don’t take this as a joke again.’
In this abusive speech, he added, ‘I told you, I won’t stop until I kill them all.’
Then, a statement from the President’s office said that the President’s security was immediately increased after this statement.
The statement said, ‘Any threat to the President’s life should be taken seriously. Especially when such a threat is made in such open, clear language.’
