Israel’s military is investigating the incursion of an unidentified drone into occupied Palestinian airspace from the east near the tri-border area of Israel, Syria and Jordan.

Al-Mayadeen reported this information with reference to Israeli media on Monday.

Israeli media reported that an attempt was made to intercept a drone-like object in the Hamat Gad area, after sounding warning sirens in the occupied Golan Heights in southern Syria.

Investigations are underway to determine the origin of the drone, the report said, adding that it was launched from Syrian territory or Iraq, as claimed by Israeli media.

Israeli media claimed that the drone came from Syria, and that it destroyed an Israeli warplane.

In this regard, the correspondent of the Israeli TV channel Kan said that the issue of this drone has created an important challenge for Israel’s air defense system.

He added that even if these drones are detected, it is very difficult to shoot them down due to their extremely low altitude.

In an announcement on Monday, the Hezbollah Secretary General confirmed that Hezbollah fighters launched a large number of drone attacks on Israeli positions deep in the occupied Palestinian territories on Sunday. What he described as an ‘initial response’ to the killing of slain commander Fuad Shukur.

The Lebanese armed group clarified that Sunday’s attack targeted a strategic Israeli military base.

He confirmed that a significant number of drones hit their intended targets. However, the enemy is trying to hide its losses.

Hassan Nasrallah explained that the operation consisted of two phases. The first phase is to eliminate Israel’s Iron Dome and interceptor missiles and to focus on targeting occupied Palestinian military bases and barracks in the north with hundreds of precision rockets. That paved the way for the second phase and swarms of drones hit their intended targets.
