Mahathir Mohamad is back in the hospital

Former Prime Minister of Malaysia. Mahathir bin Mohamad has been admitted to hospital with a respiratory infection. His assistant informed this information on Wednesday.

Sufi Yusuf, Mahathir’s assistant, said he was admitted to the National Heart Institute on Tuesday morning local time.

He said, “According to the information provided by the hospital, his problem is ‘lower respiratory tract infection’ or lower respiratory tract infection.”

He also said that it is expected that the former prime minister will be under treatment in the hospital for the next few days.

According to AFP sources, Mahathir celebrated his 99th birthday last July. He served as the Prime Minister of Malaysia twice. He was also admitted to the hospital last July with a ‘chronic cough’ problem.

Apart from this, earlier this year he spent about three months in the hospital. In the past few years, he has had several heart attacks and has had to undergo heart bypass surgery.

Mahathir Mohamad is said to be the world’s oldest political leader. He led the country twice.

From 1981 to 2003, he served as the fourth Prime Minister of the Southeast Asian country for the first time. Then in 2018, at the age of 92, he became the Prime Minister for the second time. He served till 2020.
