North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hee left Pyongyang on Monday for a visit to Russia amid the ongoing debate over sending troops. He left Pyongyang for the trip.
The country’s state-run media outlet KCNA reported this on Tuesday. Choe Son-hee’s visit to Russia comes amid concerns from Western countries that Moscow and Pyongyang are strengthening mutual assistance over the Ukraine war.
KCNA said a delegation led by Choe Son left for Russia on Monday. However, the media outlet did not provide further details.
Choe Son’s visit to Russia comes as South Korea, the United States, Ukraine and NATO have jointly confirmed that North Korea has sent troops to Russia.
They said Pyongyang has deployed troops in Russia’s Kursk region near the Ukrainian border.
