Pakistan is not afraid of India’s military power, the country’s Army Chief General Asim Munir recently commented. In addition, he also warned of fighting for Kashmir if necessary. In the meantime, India has focused on its own defense this time.
Some Indian media outlets reported that India has signed a new agreement with the UK to increase its air defense capabilities. According to this, the Indian Army is going to get ‘Man-Portable Air Defense System (MANPADS)’ very soon.
Recently, British Defense Minister Lord Vernon Coker inaugurated the UK-India Defense Partnership Pavilion at Aero India. It is reported that the defense-related agreement was signed there.
The agreement states that the UK defense company Thales and India’s Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) will jointly supply the MANPADS system. This system is a very short-range air defense, which is capable of targeting enemy missiles and fighter jets quickly and closely.
According to the report, MANPADS is a weapon that soldiers can carry from one place to another. It can target enemy fighter jets using laser beams. In 2021, Thales and BDL jointly started working on the Laser Beam Riding Man-Portable Air Defense System. 60 percent of this system will be manufactured in India.
Military analysts say that the MANPADS system will further strengthen the Indian army. Because through this, they will be able to easily target enemy fighter jets, helicopters and drones.
Many Indian analysts claim that this new weapon can be important news for India’s neighboring countries like China and Pakistan. Because it will significantly increase India’s air defense capabilities.
Although the Pakistani army chief has already said that Islamabad is not afraid of India’s military power or its modern technology.
