Thailand’s Remarkable Tourism Rebound

Bangkok, 28 December 2024 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) announced that international tourist arrivals in 2024 surpassed 35 million, generating over 1.8 trillion Baht in revenue. This achievement emphasizes Thailand’s strong tourism recovery, setting the stage for 2025, named the ‘Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year.’ The upcoming year aims to attract 36 to 39 million international visitors and generate up to 2.23 trillion Baht. With these ambitious goals, Thailand is solidifying its status as a premier global tourism hub, fostering sustainable growth and offering exceptional experiences to travelers worldwide.

Key Drivers of Success in 2024

TAT Governor Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool attributed the success to strategic government initiatives enhancing Thailand’s appeal. From January 1 to December 27, 2024, Thailand welcomed over 35 million visitors, driven by visa exemptions and streamlined entry processes. Eliminating TM.6 immigration forms at key border crossings simplified travel. The aviation sector’s role was crucial with airlines resuming and introducing new routes, raising seat capacity to 47 million in 2024, a 26% increase from 2023. High-profile events and festivals also attracted global audiences, further expanding Thailand’s tourism market.
