The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has accepted a Taliban-appointed diplomat as its ambassador to Afghanistan.
An official of the country gave this information on Thursday (August 22).
The official said that an initiative was taken to reduce the gap between the two countries by accepting the ambassador of Afghanistan. Also, the determination to help Afghans by undertaking development and reconstruction projects was strengthened.
Only China has previously accepted a Taliban nominee as its ambassador to Afghanistan. Besides, Taliban members are conducting diplomatic activities in several countries including Pakistan. However, China and United Arab Emirates have not yet officially recognized the Taliban administration.
Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced last Wednesday that Mawlawi Badruddin Haqqani has been nominated as the ambassador of the Emirates. He will be officially appointed by the Emir of the country soon.
