At least 11 people were killed when a school bus lost control and hit students and parents in China’s Shandong province. The accident happened at 7:27 am local time.
Five of the dead were students and the rest were parents. The moving bus hit students and parents standing in front of a school gate in Tai’an. The accident occurred when the driver ‘lost control’ of the bus.
BBC reported this information on Tuesday.
China’s state-owned media quoted CCTV as saying that several others were injured in the accident. One of the injured is in critical condition.
The police have detained the bus driver and are interrogating him. It is not yet certain whether he did this voluntarily or not.
According to Chinese state media, 11 people (six parents and five students) have been killed so far. Twelve of the injured are in stable condition.
Photos and videos of the accident have spread on social media. It was seen that people were trapped under the bus.
A few days ago, the new academic year started in China. Students have started the new class.
Fatal road accidents occur regularly in China. In July this year, a car ran over pedestrians in the central Chinese city of Changsha. Eight people were killed and several were injured.
