Eleven people have died after a landslide triggered by floods in central China’s Hunan province collapsed a local guesthouse. Six more people were injured in this incident.

The country’s state broadcaster CCTV said 18 people were trapped under the ground when a single-storey guest house collapsed due to the disaster. So far 11 dead bodies and six injured people have been recovered in this incident. The landslide occurred due to flash floods in the mountains.

More than 240 emergency rescue workers were dispatched to the scene after the incident. A video published by the state-run Beijing Youth Daily showed mud, debris and uprooted trees littering the hillside in front of a three-story building.

During summer in China, various natural disasters including flash floods occur due to extreme weather conditions. Flash floods have killed at least 20 people in northern and southwestern China this month. In the country in May, 48 people were killed when a highway collapsed after days of rain.
