61 deaths due to heat stroke in Thailand this year

61 people died in Thailand due to intense heat and heat wave this year. The Ministry of Health of the country informed this information in a notification on Friday. The death rate in Thailand this summer is almost double that of last year.

According to the Ministry of Health, 37 people died of heat stroke throughout the year in 2023. That is, compared to last year, the death rate has increased in the first five months of this year. This information emerged in the AFP report on Friday.

Incidentally, the heat wave has started in Thailand since March 2024. Due to the unbearable heat, the government of Thailand has been forced to issue a heat warning (heat alert) several times across the country. Educational institutions have been closed.

According to the notification of the Ministry of Health, most of the deaths occurred in the northeastern region of the country. The area is mainly agricultural.
