Almost 10 months have passed since the Israeli war in Gaza. Occupying Israel continues its brutality despite strong criticism of the world’s demand for a cease-fire. Several times in the last few months, the mediator countries have held ceasefire meetings without any results.
The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas says that everyone understands the importance of the ceasefire, but Israel is not paying attention to it. That is why the group calls Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the biggest obstacle to a ceasefire.
Hamas official Osama Hamdan spoke to Al Jazeera about the ongoing situation of the ceasefire. He claimed that Netanyahu and his government were not willing to achieve a ceasefire agreement. Two days of ceasefire talks in Qatar ended without a resolution.
Osama Hamdan said, “Israel rejected the aspects proposed by the Biden administration during the two-day talks. We have to remember, Israel’s defense minister said, that the main obstacle to achieving an agreement is Netanyahu. He is still an obstacle.
The total number of people killed in the Israeli attack on Gaza has exceeded 40,000. In addition, more than 91,500 Palestinians were injured in the last 10 months.
In addition to killing 1,200 Israelis in a sudden attack on October 7, the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas captured about 250 Israelis and foreign citizens in Gaza.
On the same day, Israel declared war on the Palestinian independence movement to eliminate Hamas and secure the release of its prisoners.
