Not a large-scale air or rocket attack, on September 17, Israel sparked discussions by detonating Hezbollah’s internal special communication device Pager. Lebanon’s pro-Iranian political party and militia group suffered a major setback. Then there were reports of walkie-talkies and cell phone explosions.
Dubai-based airline company Emirates Airlines has banned the carrying of pagers and walkie-talkies amid the Middle East unrest. The authorities took this decision on Friday (October 4). Khaleej Times reported this news in a report on Sunday.
In a statement published on the website, Emirates authorities said, “All passengers traveling to Dubai are prohibited from carrying pagers and walkie-talkies.”
The statement added, “Dubai Police will seize any contraband as an added precaution.”
Several other airlines suspended flights to Beirut and regional airports due to counterattacks by Hezbollah and Israel. Many passengers have suffered at Beirut’s Rafiq-Hariri airport due to flight cancellations and delays. Earlier on September 19, passengers traveling to the airport were banned from carrying pagers and walkie-talkies on all flights.
The authority of the Middle East’s largest airline also said that all flights to Iraq and Iran will be suspended until Tuesday. And the flight to Jordan will resume from Sunday.
It said that air traffic in Lebanon will be suspended until October 15 due to the ongoing Israeli aggression against Hezbollah and the attack near Beirut airport.
