Famous Saudi painter Mohammad Al-Hajja sentenced to 23 years in prison

Saudi Arabia has sentenced famous cartoonist Mohammad Ahmed al-Hajja al-Ghamdi to 23 years in prison for cartoons he published in a Qatari newspaper during the conflict between Riyadh and Doha seven years ago. News from the Middle East Eye.

Al-Hajja, 48, was a freelance cartoonist before his arrest in February 2018.

From 2017 to 2021, he worked for the Qatari newspaper Lusail.

He is currently lodged in Dhahban Central Jail, Jeddah.
