The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has thanked Iran and the Iran-backed resistance front for the ceasefire agreement with Israel in Gaza. Iran’s state television Press TV reported the news.
Israel and the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas agreed on a second ceasefire agreement in Gaza on Wednesday (January 15) after 15 months of conflict brokered by the United States and Qatar. Qatari and US officials said the ceasefire will take effect from Sunday (January 19).
After the ceasefire agreement was officially approved on Wednesday (January 15), Hamas’s deputy political bureau chief Khalil al-Hayya mentioned Iran’s role in the fight against Israel in Gaza in a speech.
Hayya thanked Iran, Lebanon’s Hezbollah, the Yemeni armed forces and the Iraqi resistance forces. Haya was the head of the Palestinian delegation in talks with Israel on a ceasefire in Gaza.
In his speech, the Hamas leader said, “We remember and thank our brothers in the Islamic Republic of Iran, who supported our resistance war and our people and entered the war. Not only that, but they also pierced the heart of the Zionist entity by launching Operation True Promise-1 and Operation True Promise-2.”
Praising Hezbollah, the official said, “Thanks to Hezbollah for sacrificing hundreds of martyrs, leaders and fighters in the path of liberating the holy occupied city of Al-Quds (Jerusalem), led by Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.”
The official also mentioned the thousands of retaliatory operations carried out by the Yemeni Houthi resistance group and Iraqi resistance fighters in response to the brutal military aggression of the Israeli government in Gaza and Lebanon.
He also thanked the Palestinian resistance fighters in the occupied West Bank, especially in the Jenin refugee camp, in Al-Quds and other occupied territories. Regarding Israel, Khalil Al-Hayya said that Hamas will not forgive Israel for the suffering that the people of Gaza have endured during the war.
Although most Arab countries remained silent on Israel’s military aggression in Gaza, Iran did not sit idly by. Khamenei’s country was on the side of the Palestinian resistance forces from the beginning in the fight against Israeli forces. Tehran even launched two major missile and drone attacks inside Israel.
