Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom held intensive bilateral defense talks. Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman and UK Defense Secretary John Healy discussed cooperation between the two countries and efforts to stabilize the Middle East on Thursday.
Arab News gave this news in a report on Friday (November 15).
During the meeting of the two top officials in Riyadh, Crown Prince Khalid bin Salman and John Healy discussed the Saudi-British strategic partnership and talked about increasing defense cooperation, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Prince Khalid said, we also discussed our joint efforts to address regional challenges as well as our joint vision to promote regional and international security and stability.
Ahead of the talks, the British Ministry of Defense said Healy would reaffirm the UK’s commitment to future defense with Saudi Arabia. The Secretary of Defense will develop long-standing defense relationships to enhance cooperation on security priorities.
Healy made his first visit to Riyadh since becoming defense minister after the Labor Party’s election victory in July. Prince Khalid is also believed to have discussed ongoing efforts to broker a cease-fire agreement in Gaza and Lebanon at the meeting.
Earlier on Thursday, Haley met with NATO ally Turkey’s Defense Minister Yasser Guler in Ankara.
