During his visit to Almaty, Chairman of the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan A. Mavlonov held a bilateral meeting with Chairman of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan J. Duisembiev.
According to the Trade Turnover Expansion Program between the two countries, it is planned to increase the volume of foreign trade between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to $10 billion by 2030.
Customs services are tasked with managing queues of freight vehicles at border customs posts and introducing a “green corridor”, which introduces simplified procedures for agricultural products.
The Electronic Queue system was discussed, which has been gradually introduced at border and customs posts of Uzbekistan since June. For the first time, this system will be introduced at the Navoi customs post, located on the border with Kazakhstan.
The parties considered the possibilities of further expanding the information exchange between customs services, in particular, the exchange of scanning images from large inspection complexes.
The technical conditions for exchanging information on the movement of light vehicles through customs posts were also discussed.
The issue of letting empty vehicles and oversized cargo pass through the Ak Oltin – Selinny and Malik – Syrdarya border customs posts between the two countries was also considered.
This will primarily lead to a significant reduction in the load and traffic congestion at the Yallama, Najimov and Syrdarya border customs posts of Uzbekistan and the adjacent border customs posts of Kazakhstan.
The sides also discussed an agreement on the establishment of customs service representative offices in both countries.
They reviewed a new Cooperation Plan. The plan provides for the restoration and reconstruction work at checkpoints. In particular, in addition to completing construction work at the Gishtkoprik and Davud Ota border customs posts, it is planned to reconstruct the Syr Darya border customs post.
The need to improve interaction in the field of customs statistics of mutual trade was also noted.
The parties reviewed agreements providing for cooperation between customs laboratories and personnel training.
Following the meeting, three documents were signed.
