Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed Ankara’s stance on Israel’s war in Gaza while warning Turkish President Erdogan about the West.
The Russian president told the Turkish news agency Anadolu Agency while addressing a meeting with heads of global news organizations during an economic summit in St. Petersburg, Russia.
On Wednesday, Putin welcomed Ankara’s stance on nuclear energy partnership with Turkey and Israel’s war in Gaza, saying Turkish authorities would suffer economically if they turned to the West for financial aid.
Putin said that amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, entering its third year, Turkey has managed to maintain a neutral stance.
Referring to economic relations between Turkey and Russia, Putin said construction of Turkey’s first nuclear power plant, Akkuyu, in southern Mersin province, is proceeding according to schedule.
