Erdogan’s discussion with Zelensky about Russia at the NATO summit
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that work has begun to revive Black Sea grain exports with Russia.
He said these things in a meeting with Ukrainian President Zelensky on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in Washington on Thursday. Khabar Daily Sabah.
Erdogan told Zelenskiy that Turkey continues its efforts for a just peace and is ready to take any initiative, including mediation, to ensure peace.
The two leaders discussed the course of the Ukraine-Russia war as well as regional and global issues, the Presidential Communications Directorate said. Ukraine has been fully defending itself against Russian aggression for more than two years. For its campaign, Kiev has received extensive international support from most Western allies in the form of arms supplies, humanitarian aid as well as sanctions against Russia.
Turkey brokered an on-hold agreement to allow safe passage of Ukrainian grain shipments through the Black Sea despite a blockade of its ports after Moscow launched its offensive in late February 2022.
Turkey has established itself as a mediator in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and Erdogan has played a key role in mediating the Black Sea Grain Initiative. Moscow pulled out of the deal on July 17 last year, accusing the West of blocking its own grain and fertilizer exports, and has since attacked Ukraine’s agricultural and port infrastructure.
