The Iranian-backed Lebanese armed group Hezbollah is using old-fashioned methods to evade Israel’s high-tech surveillance system. Hasan Nasrallah, one of the group’s leaders, said that Shakrupaksha’s cutting-edge technology required a return to the old ways.

Israel’s armed forces (IDF) are using security cameras and remote sensing systems to gather intelligence on Hezbollah. On the other hand, resistance fighters are using drones to disrupt Israel’s intelligence gathering process. They are using personal pagers and couriers instead of mobile phones and internet.

They are also using coded messages and 25-year-old telecommunication networks or landphones. This makes it difficult for Tel Aviv to identify their location even with advanced technology.

Military experts say the old methods are very effective at avoiding high-tech surveillance. Kassem Kasir, an analyst in Lebanon, said that despite the importance of information and technology in winning the war, it is necessary to return to the old ways in order to survive and succeed.

IDF authorities also said they were continuing to strike Hezbollah military targets and trying to minimize civilian casualties in the group’s attacks. Hezbollah’s security measures have been tightened in response to Israeli attacks. Fighters are banned from mobile phones and ordered to disconnect security cameras.

Referring to Osama bin Laden, the top leader of the banned Al Qaeda group, the security analyst said that he was out of all kinds of intelligence surveillance by the government for at least a decade without using the Internet and mobile phones.
